The Great American Picnic

JULY 20, 2025
12:00 - 2:00

The Great American Picnic is a long-standing tradition of the Alumni Association.  While the main purpose of the picnic is to raise funds for the AACLSC, it is also a wonderful, old-fashioned way to spend a Sunday afternoon at Chautauqua.  The GAP typically takes place in mid-July.

Upon arrival, attendees are asked to go to the Ticket Table and purchase tickets.  Tickets are used to purchase any food or entertainment item available in the Grove.  As an example, at the current time, the purchase of a hotdog requires four tickets. Auction items, copies of Chautauqua's Heart, and any other AACLSC merchandise may not be purchased with tickets.

This is a family fun event. There is plenty of picnic food available, as well as face painting and games and prizes for the kids.

While you're in the Grove, take a tour of Alumni Hall and Pioneer Hall and stop in to visit the CLSC Octagon across Cookman Ave.  There, you can find out how to join one of the oldest continuously operating book clubs in America and find current CLSC reading material to purchase.

Come spend a lovely, sun-speckled afternoon in the Grove with your friends and family!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!  This event takes many, many willing bodies to man tables and/or bake.  If you can spare a few hours to help support your Alumni Association, we would be deeply grateful. Notify Kathy Hurst at alumassocexecsec@gmail.com if you can help!
