OUR SCHOLARSHIPS
Every summer, four to six teachers or librarians from Chautauqua County are granted scholarships to participate in the CLSC (Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle). They have the opportunity to enroll in a Literary Arts writing class for four consecutive summers and ultimately graduate from CLSC after completing the four-year program. Subsequently, these accomplished professionals establish reading circles within their communities, inviting other teachers and students to join them in reading and engaging in discussions about books.
The Circle Scholarships for Teachers and Librarians
This program is currently organized and sponsored by the Alumni Association of the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle. As part of their ongoing efforts to support the scholarship fund, an annual silent auction and sale are held during the summer. This year, the 2025 auction is scheduled from Tuesday, July 8th until Friday, July 11th and again on Sunday, July 13th, running from noon to 5:00 pm.
Also this year, we received so many pieces unique to Chautauqua and its history, that a separate auction is being planned prior to the main event. This separate auction, Chautauqua Treasures: An Elite Auction, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 2 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the ballroom of Alumni Hall. This is a one time event, meant to showcase particular desirable pieces.
The Alumni Association's Silent Auction Committee accepts donations year round. If you would like to donate an item or items, please contact us at alumassocexecsec@gmail.com.

With increased financial support, we can provide more students and teachers in the area with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the enriching and engaging learning environment of Chautauqua.
